Trained Immunity

Ability of the INNATE IMMUNITY system to form IMMUNOLOGIC MEMORY and provide enhanced defense against subsequent secondary infections. In trained immunity, long-term adaptation of innate immune cells occurs through EPIGENETIC PROCESSES and metabolic CELLULAR REPROGRAMMING to form long term immunologic memory.
