A bi-directional monocarboxylic acid transporter that occurs in many different tissues, including MYOCARDIUM; LYMPHOCYTES; and MONOCYTES. It catalyzes transport across the PLASMA MEMBRANE of monocarboxylates such as LACTATE; PYRUVATE; ACETATE; and KETONE BODIES.
