A collection of NEURONS, tracts of NERVE FIBERS, endocrine tissue, and blood vessels in the HYPOTHALAMUS, the PITUITARY GLAND and the GONADS. It plays a central role in endocrine regulation of gonadal function including release of hormones: GNRH; LUTEINIZING HORMONE; FOLLICLE-STIMULATING HORMONE and TESTOSTERONE.
