Abstract
A C-type lectin that functions as a pattern recognition receptor on DENDRITIC CELLS and other immune cells. It is specific for beta-1,-linked and beta 1,6-linked GLUCANS that constitute the CELL WALL of pathogenic bacteria and fungi, and is essential for the TOLL-LIKE RECEPTOR 2 INNATE INFLAMMATORY RESPONSE and activation of NF-KAPPA-B.
