A genus of fungi in the family Pleosporaceae, order Pleosporales and phylum ASCOMYCOTA. Bipolaris fungi are ascomycetes and plant pathogens, mostly on POACEAE and some monocot crops. They are also causative agent for PHAEOHYPHOMYCOSIS and were formerly a part of the Bipolaris, Cochliobolus and CURVULARIA complex.
