A genus of fungi in the family Saccotheciaceae, order Dothideales, and phylum ASCOMYCOTA. Aureobasidium fungi are cosmopolitan and form black hyphae when colony is aged. Aureobasidium pullulans is best known and is one of the causative agents of PHAEOHYPHOMYCOSIS.
